About Me:
Forever contemplating the role of human existence on the plan of reality, Geeyung Li often takes the simplist things and makes them convoluted and confusing. A game of Jenga can easily represent the Jungian idea of man’s collective unconscious. Needless to say, Gee does not have very many friends.
Gee was born on April 1st, which seems to amuse a lot of people. He grew up in the conservative bastion that is known as Kansas where he spent sixteen years catching fireflies, throwing snowballs, and turning his brain into mush playing Super Nintendo. In the summer of ‘98, the Li family moved to San Antonio, TX where Gee’s eccentric, but lovable, father decided to invest their life savings in the lucrative Chinese Seafood Buffet Industry. They now have “All-You-Can-Eat Crab Legs Seven Days a Week.”*
Hoping to find some purpose to his life, Gee pursued a Finance/Accounting degree at the University of Texas at Austin. There, he was sidetracked by friends, football games, his current girlfriend of two years (Linda Yang), and the continual onset of brain apoptosis caused by Playstation 1 & 2. It wasn’t until after graduation that he had realized his true calling: to be a theoretical astro physicist. However, not wanting to spend another four years in college, he pursued his second calling: as a tournament-level Tekken 5 video game master.
He failed miserably in this regard.
Looking for something to fill the void in his professional life, Gee happened upon the Sojourners Internship program. It seemed like a great opportunity for him to gain experience, learn more about social justice, and force 11 other people to spend time with him. Unfortunately, he had missed the deadline. Undaunted, he shamelessly begged the intern director to extend the application date.
Which brings us to today. Geeyung Li is Sojourner’s new Advertising Intern and Table Tennis Champion hopeful. His recent hobbies include pre-WWII fountain pens, amatuer boxing, art by Alex Ross, and Sodoku. An eternal optimistic, he fills his day with meaningful mediations. He believes that life is worth living, the world is worth saving, and that everyone should do something difficult in their lives so that they can never say they’re bored.
